How we check facts
Passports Abroad is an independent guide. We are not a government agency, a law firm or a visa service, and we do not process applications. The guides are general information, not legal advice.
Where the information comes from
Every fee, form, address and processing time on this site is taken from an official source: the country's passport or immigration agency, its embassy or consulate, or a provider the government has appointed. Each guide ends with a list showing which official page each fact came from and the date we last checked it.
When a fact is uncertain
Official pages sometimes disagree with each other or are out of date. When that happens we say so on the page instead of picking one silently. Anything we could not confirm from an official source is marked "not confirmed by an official source".
How often we check
We aim to re-check every guide every three months. The date stamped at the top of each page shows when its facts were last checked, so you can judge for yourself.
Before you pay or travel
Fees and rules can change without notice. Always confirm with the official source linked on the page before you send money, post documents or book travel.
